Hello there people
I was wondering, what social life is like at the big tech companies ? I recently saw a video with SWEs at the bay area being interviewed about their social life and most of them just watch Netflix after work. Is it everywhere like this ? Im asking as a foreigner thats looking to start preparing for coding interviews and hopefully getting a job and moving to the states. I would really like to know what its like there. Im kinda βscaredβ and intimidated by the whole change but I want to get out of my comfort zone and give it a shot. What Im worried about though is not being able to make new friends and live a happy life there. #tech #lifeatfang

I've been interview loops where questions were raised about a candidate's gaps in employment or even overlaps in employment. Ideally that should not be anybody's business but you never know what might trigger an interview to go with a "no hire" vote.
Other than that, for people like me who are on H-1B visa in the US for years and years, it's literally not possible to take a long break from work due to risk of going out of status and becoming unemployable because H-1B would not be approved thereafter.
