Software Eng. to Solutions Engineer at Salesforce?

I have 4 YoE as a web developer in the Bay Area. Currently, I have bunch of interviews lined up mostly for web-dev positions and I have 1 interview coming up with Salesforce for a Solutions Engineer. Solutions Engineer is quite tempting to me but it is a bit of a career change, i.e. not so much coding anymore.
I don’t know if it’s a good/bad idea. Can you share your perspective please? I would especially appreciate it if you’ve made similar transition. Pros/cons? Any thoughts really...

It's actual software engineering if you're into that

You’re right. I’ve been told this position requires interactions with customer, configurations, high level technical knowledge and ability to communicate it to non technical folks, and sales. I feel like the potential to make more money as a web dev is higher and the opportunities are endless. To your point, moving up from Solutions Engr. role is easier at large companies, so I’m conflicted 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Thanks for your input!

No problem, you pretty much got it - line development has lateral mobility but architectural roles have the vertical mobility. I'd consider whether you prefer the mobility between companies or job security within the same company. Also whether you prefer doing crossword puzzles and staring at meaningless walls of text or ritually reciting buzzwords and sitting at pointless meetings

I’ve been parched by a recruiter for another company and a friend for the Solutions Engineer position. Why?
