If London is anything like the Bay Area, 55k is very low. In the Bay Area you might not be able to feed your family on anything less than a hundred k.

It’s not like US. Way lower, 40% lower for FANG. GS is one of the best paying companies in London. This is a solid starting base. You will get bonuses. So it’s kind of fine.

If anything, Goldman, Morgan Stanley etc pay that amount to Associate levels in mumbai. Sorry but you might want to double check with them regarding comp.

Holy shit that is bad by like a factor of 4. Glad I don’t live in a socialist country.

If you lived in like 99% of US cities outside FS or other major tech areas, then all of the sudden 55k would not be that bad :)

How about VP level at GS in London? Is the pay similar to NYC or Bay Area pay?

Expedia Group Gold😀 Feb 12, 2020

Sorry but your question is fundamentally flawed. London is a city, US is a country. You cannot compare the two things (unless you take the VP pay across US, average it and then compare it to London).

I heard of product associate at GS (almost VP) taking a cut from $135k (base) to £90k, company assuring him it was equivalent based on cost of living differential.

just dont go to UK for tech jobs

55k base is not bad for an analyst job with 1.5yoe. You would be in top 10th percentile for base salary in the UK. Probably top 15th for London. You won't be rich but you will live comfortably.

Grads make more than that
