Software engineers how did you get out of Defense?

I have been at a defense company in LA for about 1 year. Mainly doing C/C++ wanted to transition into web development ideally since it is what most commercial companies do but I get not responses. Any success stories from SWE leaving defense and how did you do it? TC: 85K YOE: 1 Year LA

Now is the wrong time to get out of defense. Like right now is the wrong time.

There isn’t any extra benefits in staying besides job security but that doesn’t even if there is a war. No stock options at most companies besides spaceX

Okay. Pretty much all major companies hire C++ programmers.

I too am in same fix. I see most web development backend side divided over Nodejs vs ReactNative. Choose a framework and get going. I liked Nodejs it's event driven fw is something similar to eventloop in C++/folly/boost fw

There's no magic step, just apply. You should start doing some leet code or hacker rank to prep for interviews and brush up on basic oop principles if you haven't already. Since you want to get into webdev, you should start learning that on your own as well.

Offense is the best defense baby. Offensively study for Leetcode. And Javascript.

I work as a software engineer. Didn’t get undergrad in CS. I’ve got interviews at amazon. google (non-SW role). Still kind of searching for good “transition” companies. It’s difficult and makes me regret choosing engineering

Anyone have a hard time passing their interviews? I've had interviews where I managed to solve all questions, but got dinged because I took a hint. That's some BS.
