I cannot express how much learning to run for long distances sucks. I cannot express how good it feels to run long distances once you build the strength and endurance.
It takes 3-6 months of 3 day a week commitment. It is so worth it. Get out there and exercise people. Itโs the number one thing you can do for your mental and physical health.
Every week, bump the run periods up by 30-60 seconds.
Eventually get comfortable running up to a mile without stopping. Even if it hurts.
And then keep pushing yourself. Running two miles without stopping is harder than running four miles without stopping. Itโs all mental at that point and your legs will be on cruise control.
Take breaks if your knees and ankles start to feel pain. Those are hard to recover from.
