My partner is a founder of a successful tech company and is in a mental health crisis.

Everyone we have asked says “just Google” but I have scrolled ZocDoc and Psychology Today but none of the therapists seem like a good fit. The two I have messaged did not reply.

Does anyone have recommendations of a really good, experienced psychologist in the Bay Area who specializes in working with founders and HNW individuals?

Money is no object, just need someone vetted and good.

Please help!
Tysm.

Unfortunately I don’t have a particular person to recommend, however I found that you have to contact dozens of therapists and follow up with them if they don’t respond within a day or two. Many are not taking new clients and in my own search for a therapist, one told me that most times clients reach out to him and when he used to respond regularly he’d never hear back from them. So he took the approach of waiting for them to call again and then he’d call back. Good luck.

What is the apparent cause behind the crisis? Existential dread, stress, relationships?

If your partner is able to, ask them to sit down on the ground, cross legged, and breathe in and out in a relaxed manner. Do this for about 1 minute.

Then observe that they are completely fine in that moment. The suffering is just a projection of the future/past, but here and now is always safe.

If they can return to the here and now from time to time, they may become more relaxed. Spending time watching animals is also useful, as they are always in the present.

Go to the website for psychologytoday This is the page recommended by therapists. You can sort through bios and send messages. Many are booked. I recommend sending multiple messages to ones you identify that are aligned with your needs. Best of luck.
