Hey Guys trying to identify if the compensation is the "avg" for SpaceX since I believe it's a bit low and less then what I make now for a Senior engineer role. Do they provide sign on bonus (not relocation cost) Is it do-able to be a single income with a family with that? Base: $120k RSU: $210 (5 Years 20/20/20/20/20) Location: Hawthorne #SpaceX #Engineer #supplychain #Senior #hawthorne
SpaceX is well known for paying below market
Is that SWE? Their non-SWE position pay is complete garbage and is at least lower base salary than defense, with not great equity. When you think of the hours you have to work it’s hard to justify
Not SWE
Equity seems decent for senior level but you could make a higher base at Boeing working 40 hours. Yeah it’s boring but might be better than balls to the wall. I have 2.5 yoe and make $120 in LCOL. I did get rejected from SWE role for spacex with a hard take-home but have no desire to interview for non-SWE because of pay
Dam id eat my hat to work for SpaceX. Sucks being a European 😞
SpaceX and Tesla are well known for paying below market
Taking advantage of your passion!
Seems a bit low but I’m on the software side. You can probably negotiate a small signing bonus and maybe more stock.
You will be working 60-80 hrs a week
I heard that, I don't mind but that TC didn't seem feasible in Cali

What are the RSUs of? Where do you sell them? SpaceX isn’t traded yet, or are they ISOs?
They're RSU and we have liquidity events at least one time a year these days. They used to be oversubscribed but lately it's been undersubscribed as there is more interest from investors (so volume is higher) and employees tend to want to hold for starlink IPO now.
Elon can do better
