can anyone please shed some light on the difficulty of this interview? how does it compare to Google, Facebook, etc? It will be a c++ based role, or python, unsure yet
Mine wasn’t hard for Senior C++ role. Solved a basic problem in online code editor, and then answered a bunch of C++ technical trivia questions and then it became informal from then on and recruiter reached out shortly after for onsites. On-sites were a little more challenging depending on the interviewer (brush up on multi threading etc) but overall it didn’t seem like anyone wanted to fail me. Had offer 2 days later. Btw their codebase is currently C++98 and they are planning to migrate to C++17 soon (at least as of a month ago). My interviews involved knowledge from both ends of that spectrum.
I see, so for phone interview what kind of trivia questions were asked? Do you remember at all? Thanks for the input btw
Things that you may/may not think about if you come from a higher level language background. Why is a vector iterator invalid after adding an element to the vector? If I told you sizeof(SomeStruct) != sumOfMemberSizes, why might that be? What are move semantics? Difference between `class` and `struct`? Some mutex and deadlock questions. Basically the interview was more to demonstrate that I knew C++, not just that I was a software engineer. It’s only one data point from my recent experience and offer, YMMV. I declined offer for FB.
How did you get a splunk interview?
Just applied mate
I applied and they never got back to me
Is it a sustaining role or new development? If you’re working on core product, it’s c++ for backend. It’s a lot easier than google
New dev. What kind of stuff do they like to ask on phone interview? Because on glassdoor I see everything from LC med to .. reverse a string.
