Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Hey folks, can you please share some insights into the work culture of engineering org in San Jose/San Francisco offices? Also, how are the benefits in CA? 401k, vacation time, sick time, holidays, commuter subsidy, healthcare premiums, parking subsidy in San Jose, remote work option, etc? Please share.
Wow!! Didn’t know that. I thought it’s not as political. How toxic is the work culture? Can you please share some more details?
It really differs team by team. So I can only tell you about my experience. I really enjoy the work I do and the culture overall is great. If you like to take ownership and solve problems it’s a great place. If you like a well defined product roadmap and don’t like constant change, maybe not the best place.
Work life balance is good, flexible Remote work option, parking is free inside our own San Jose building. Politics is more extreme than other companies and culture is very competitive and can be toxic in many teams. Also be aware - there is mass exodus in progress right now in both sales and sales engineering including leadership. This is having a serious impact on the morale within the sales and engineering orgs
Is there any particular reasoning behind the mass exodus? Is this due to the politics or a lack of belief in the business, compensation or technology?
Hard to pinpoint all the reasons to explain all the departures but in high level due to very extreme politics (it’s out of control at this point) and new unattainable quotas /compensation structure. We lost 40 people ( sales and SE leadership) just on the west coast alone.....in one week
