Hi, can someone give me some insight into what it’s like to be a PM or PMM mba intern at Spotify? How does it compare to working at FANG?
I’m curious to hear about this too. I recently switched into PM from UX/front-end dev and would love to work at Spotify one day. It would be good to hear about how PMs are involved in the decision making for teams.
PMs don’t get to make decisions at Spotify. The team votes on everything because of weird Swedishness and bizarre understanding of autonomy.
Definitely not looking for technical unless you’re applying for a super technical infra team, otherwise the shift in Product org has been way more towards having lots of PM experience and particularly working either with a very similar domain expertise or you’ve proven yourself at a (big?) company as a PM. Wildly different from only a few years ago when we were more orientated towards tech / Agile ‘POs’
What are typical PM responsibilities in Spotify?
PM team is quite small. We tend to hire people with experience. Last year was the first time I saw PM interns. They haven't returned yet so hard judge.
Are they looking for people with technical backgrounds?
Non technical. I think they are looking for more business kind of person
