Spotify

Does anyone have experience applying at Spotify Boston? I've applied through the Spotify website but am interested in approaches to improve the chance of a cal back (beyond tailoring resume to jd, etc.).

I applied via a referral from a friend and still haven't heard back.

Good to know. How long has it been? I used the web form and the status hasn't changed. It was unclear to me if they wait for some amount of time and then review everything at once or have some other approach. I've read the articles on how to get hired there and know they get a lot of resumes to review so I'm trying to be patient.

It's been exactly a month. I'm still shown as "new" in their application system.

Not in Boston office but it literally took 3 months for me to get a callback after applying online.

Try to find someone who can refer you. Or reach out to people on LinkedIn.

I was approached by a recruiter on linked in. I replied the same day and didn't hear back for 2 months. I'd steer clear. If they don't have a tight recruiting game then they won't land the top engineers. Don't want to work in a shop full of b level players do you?

Spotify recruiters are terrible. expect to wait a while.

I got recruited as well but my experience was pretty positive. I responded that I wasn't looking to leave at the time but wanted to keep their contact info if I chose to apply in the future. Almost immediate response back.

Is that possible to know the recruiter name?

You know who has awesome recruiters that respond immediately? Chewy.com

Seems like you might be a little biased, but I will check it out. Thanks.

I spoke with Phillip Reese from Chewy, was a fantastic experience. Wasn't a good fit for the role but I enjoyed talking with him and he gave way better feedback than most corporate recruiters.

Don't bother it's over hyped. They won't talk to anyone that's not a woman if you're in engineering. If they give you an excuse for canceling your interview or not talking to you it's probably because you're a white guy. This happens a lot. I've referred several people that have been hired at Google and Facebook and Spotify refused to interview them. One of them had an onsite interview and it was canceled last minute for no reason. I know a couple of my teammates are paid unfairly compared to others. It's not a place you can trust to take care of its people. It's all for optics.

The referrals system doesn’t do much, you need to actually follow up with the hiring manager and recruiter to advocate for your candidate. Otherwise it pretty much goes into a black box as I’ve discovered.

I am a women and applied for one of the open positions long long ago and haven’t heard back. When I reach out to the recruitment team, I’m asked to be patient. How long will it be before I see my application change status from new to whatever
