Recently finished the interview process at Square and the recruiter said to expect an offer in the next couple days. I was originally quoted $200k as the TC target for the role (job req was for 5+ YoE) but the recruiter revised their estimate to $175k today since i have a bit less experience. Here's my info: 2 YoE as PM, 2 YoE as data analyst, and location is SF. Questions: - does $175k TC sound fair for my experience level? - what level does it sound like i'd be brought in as (description of level would be helpful)? - what's the TC band for that level? - is there room to negotiate if i don't have a competing offer in hand? Thanks!
I think it's good for your level
Non tech?
I'd be a normal product manager (i.e. expected to be conversant with engineers and run my own data analyses but not contributing code to prod).
You are getting an L5 offer and seems like a solid offer based on your YoE
Thanks for the info :)
I have 2 years asan engineer and 3.5 years as a PM and I get ranges offered between 140-170 at non-fang companies. So 175k is great.
Thanks for responding - many companies i interviewed with were also in that range. The ones that offered $170k+ were specifically looking for someone with a strong data background at 5+ product YoE (though they were obviously flexible about the latter bit).
I'm a L5 PM in SF. When I joined, I got 150k base, 40k in stock per year. Think I could have got more if I negotiated better. FYI base pay range for our role/level/location is 123-170k with 147k as the mid point
Did you join Square? How has your experience been? Would love a referral
How do Square levels compare to FAANG? There’s nothing on levels.fyi

It all depends on the product. If it is something that is substantial then you can ask for more. PM is a wide area where people can be owning an entire end to end program or just a small area. Without understanding the kind of product you will be managing it is hard to predict. Also you didn’t mention the breakdown. Whats the base bonus and stocks.
