SQ has taken a massive dip, my initial vest is significantly lower in value now (30-40%). TC is significantly lower because of that. Quit or continue working? Boomerang or find new opportunities? Also let me know if you could do referrals for remote eng positions. Would be forever grateful! TC: L6 300K #tech #square #remotecompanies #remote
What do you mean by Boomerang?
Quit and rejoin. You get a new stock grant which is reflective of current price (more stocks than before)
Wouldn’t it be easier to talk to your manager about comp and providing you with more RsUs to match what your intial offer was?
How do you quit and rejoin? What will you tell them?
Exactly my question. What would one even say to the recruiter? 😂
Simply say you enjoyed working at Square and want to come back. If you were a valued employee before you left, I don't think you need to explain the boomerang much -- the company would simply be glad to have you back. It's much harder to justify if you were an average or sub-par employee of course, but not impossible.
Join the club lol. But in honesty lots of companies are down a ton for those who joined in the past year
What was your TC before the crash?
450 with several grants
Damn that's a large drop
OP, doesn’t Sq have a 1 year cliff? Is the price calculated in the last month of the year before you vest or at the beginning of your tenure?
It's calculates based on join date.
Dang!!!!! I’m screwed. 😭
How is internal sentiment? Are people looking for the door? Asking as a concerned incoming L6.
Not sure tbh. Lots of new hires with really high priced grants
Ignoring the recent stock perf, has it been a good place to work?
Solid. Excellent WLB and good people
Are you in Sellers or Cash?
Seller
I’m going to laugh when all these people leave, the stock price goes up, and they regret leaving the good culture and WLB for a shitty job that paid them more. People who panic over a dip don’t understand the market
In fairness $SQ is sitting at its 52 week low, over 50% off ATH. Calling this a dip is a bit understating the situation.
Sure, but the rest of my point still stands.
Look at all the people who suddenly realize that technology compensation is dependent on constant stock growth that is no longer happening now that interest rates are going up.
