Programmers are the smartest people in the world
Current TC: N/A Square L3 remote, based in NY: Base 120k, Stock: 170k, Sign on: 10k Google L3 Seattle: Not determined yet I probably like Square a little more but I think it would be more valuable early in my career to go with Google. Also would Google likely match square? I prefer the remote first environment of Square but I know Google has that work location tool now so maybe they'll be more lenient in the future? Thoughts? UPDATE: Sorry for the late edit, Google's offering: Base: 118k Stock: 90k Bonus: 15% A little lower than I'd like even when adjust for cost of living. #engineering #software #swe #google #square

I mean remote/nyc vs seattle would make it very easy for me to pick :) Plus square seems more fun anyway
That's exactly my thought process! It's mostly the name of Google that's making it a competition for me
Google can easily beat that offer. I joined Google as new grad with a similar offer from a unicorn. My thoughts were that I can do Google now and L4/l5 at square down the road.
Google will match any offer u have. Go to google as long as the team isn't bad. What's the team?
Numbers are a little bit different now but IIRC when I joined as a new grad the numbers were competitive with G, and that stock appreciation has blown that new grad package out of the water at this point. Obviously circumstances are a little bit different now, but in general I think the difference in name isn't worth as much as you think.
This is easy—Square. Good money, good tech, remote, fintech, etc. I’d go with Square over Google in this situation, unless Goggle comes back with like 190k+. Then I’d pick Google. Always go with the best money. If the money is even, go with the easier job and or better wlb. Congrats. 👍
Let us know the numbers from Google when you find out. Seems like even a low-ball Google offer will beat/match the square offer. Plus, Seattle is lower cost of living than NYC and also no state tax. That's just from a TC perspective though. Sounds like you're leaning towards Square. My 2 cents: life's short, might as well wake up feeling fulfilled and happy that you are where you are. The job at Google will always be here for you
You are a new grad. If you want to fun and dating, go to NYC.
Did you negotiate with Square?
