    Congrats on both offers. I left fb to join sq and love it here. I have a lot more autonomy and WLB is night and day compared to fb.

    There might be some more room on the sq offer. I was able to get 225k, 1M equity, and 20k sign on. Was E5 at fb and joined as L6

      My original offer was actually more than a year ago. It was 200k + 700k equity but I took fb. They reached out a year+ later and gave me this new updated offer (I didn’t have to reinterview). Probably to account for inflation. I didnt negotiate the equity or base. Only negotiated the sign on.

      That's inaccurate. The number of shares is determined based on the average price the 30 days before your grant date (the 1st or 15th after your start date).

      Square != Stripe

    I have a bit of a newbie question. Can you explain the stock component. When you say 830k, is this USD or # of stocks?
    I suppose USD. So at today's price of 205 USD for square you would get 4k units.
    Is this a 4 year vesting package? And when does the conversion happen, all in day 1 or annually/quarterly depending on the then fair share price?
    Are these full value or is there a strike price involved?
    Is this the total stock for the next 4 years or do you expect regrants/topups during this time?
    Would be super helpful to understand the details of this. Thanks for your help.

    • It's 830k *shares* of stock. So at today's closing price of ~$210 per share, OP can expect to make around $174,300,000. Unfortunately, since this vests over 4 years, OP will only make $43million a year (+ base), which is why they're asking for advice

      It's 830k worth of stock, not number of shares over 4 years. I believe it vests quarterly. The value of the stock is based on when you join. There should be refreshers every year for additional stocks.

    Square. Great WLB and culture. I might be a bit biased though :)
