I have a technical phone screen for SquareSpace Senior Software Engineer - Data Engineering. What should I expect? The HR provided me a document mentioning to go over algorithms, however, my background is in SQL Any tips on prep would be helpful Rooftop Slushie: https://www.rooftopslushie.com/request/SquareSpace%20Senior%20Software%20Engineer%20-%20Data%20Engineering-1887?utm_source=share&utm_medium=link
Not worth your time (phone screen + onsite 1 + onsite 2) to get an offer. Bad culture and low comp. Run away if you have any other choice.
New hires get solid comp. Comp was restructured a year ago. If you came in earlier than that you’re screwed though.
The comp is solid for new hires at the lower levels only (L2 and L3). At any other level, even new hires don’t get much compared to competing tech companies.
At higher levels, for recent hires it's not that bad. Base is competitive, RSUs are competitive. Where the company lags, is lack of a yearly cash bonus and lack of refreshers. Also, if you were hired with less RSUs, you don't make the difference up while getting promoted to the next level.
I didn’t get last sentence about making difference up. Could you elaborate?
Imagine you were hired at Software Engg Level 3 and got say, 100 RSUs, whereas someone hired at Senior Software Engineer got 150 RSUs (hypothetically speaking). When you get promoted from SE to SSE, you won't automatically go up to 150, but may be around 110 hypothetically. The point is, once you get your initial grant, I haven't heard of anyone getting a strong refresher at promotion.
Hey OP I’m interviewing for this position as well. Can i dm you for some questions?

Very basic sql query and one problem on Data Structures and Algorithms. Practice some easy leetcode like merge two sorted array.
