Asking for a friend - she's relocating to the bay area. 10+ years of experience. 145k Base 15% Bonus 75k Stock over 4 years Is it a lowball offer, especially in terms of stock? EDIT: What would you suggest that she counters with? She's moving from a non-tech firm so isn't sure about compensation structures at Tech firms.
Sounds quite low- esp for Bay Area!
Thanks for replying. Any ideas on what amount she should counter with? In terms of base she's getting a bump on current salary, but Stock seems especially low.
I’m based in Atlanta and a senior finance manager would do about $125k here, maybe even slightly higher. For how cheap the cost of living is here plus low taxes vs how expensive the Bay Area is, that feels like a major rip off. I would say $170k minimum is what the offer should be; but that would be an aggressive counter. I recommend researching salaries for similar companies/competitors
Several finance managers in random companies that much or even more. This is low for Senior Manger in general.
Thanks for replying! Do you have any idea what kind of on hire stock can be awarded in Finance roles at companies such as Facebook?
I have friends in Tier 1 and 2 companies with with managerial title in finance and they have $80-$120k in stock. So definitely slightly higher for Senior role.
My partner is FP&A Finance Manager (not even senior) at Salesforce with 10+ YOE. Don't remember specifics, but TC is around $180k, bit over your friend's Senior comp. Just got a promo to Senior FM and expecting a 10-ish % raise. Not sure if those titles are equivalent between the companies. Edit: SF.
Based where?
Base should be $185k minimum
I understand this is a pretty strong offer for a support role. 'Finance' is quite a large functional area. What specific role is your friend going to be employed in?
Is this IC5 Finance Manager @ FB? I don’t think FB has “senior” in title for Finance, Finance managers there go start at IC4 and go through IC6 and maybe M levels. The offer sounds exactly like an IC4 Finance Manager offer, based on convos I’ve had with recruiters
Sounds really low, does FB lowball their finance people? This is what microsoft and amazon would pay for comparable positions and thats in Seattle not bay area
My fp&a manager friend at sfdc makes around 210 tc 7 yoe
That’s a low ball offer. They pay their logistics coordinator 135k +15% bonus and 60k in stock for a job in Virginia.
Definitely low balled
Senior? In the bay that's bad
Thanks for replying. I'm not in Finance so cannot say what is a good amount for a Finance manager role. Software Engg roles can expect 250k or so in on-hire stock, but what about Finance roles? She's not moving from a tech firm, so doesn't know much about comp structure.
