Sr eng, joined 1 year back, and looking for staff, I got exceed in last two ratings and did lot of work. Talked to manager, he/she listen but think I am being too ambitious. I work hard and contribute as staff, this gets recognized as well. Looks like their are other folks in pipeline who are older than me in company and my short tenure here is another reason. Manager not giving clarity when I will be getting promoted which is frustrating to me. Tc 320. With this frustration, i started looking out and got a Principal role of 400K in Salesforce. brand is good but not as good as LinkedIn. Now confusion start, Higher level, role and salary, just as i wanted but a level down in company. What should you do in my situation ? YOE - 10, 4 initial years in small service companies.
How many Yoe? Why would you worry about other people's perception as long as you can pivot back to FAANG? Unpopular opinion: aim for scope and get exposure operating with high growth velocity. Once you have that exp can always pivot back for L+1 if you have confidence in cracking the interview loop.
I also want this but i am not being confident in my decision
Take the Salesforce offer. 400k is no joke. You get the money as well as the title you are looking for.
LinkedIn >>> Salesforce
As long as they're giving stock refresh you should stay.
Hmmm
Congrats on getting 400k at Google! Jump immediately
Salesforce doesn’t give refreshes and working on core is a nightmare.
Who cares? He can stay there for four long years and bank 400k! He can FIRE just off of that if he smartly invests that money.
Yeah but it's still a boat load of money. If smartly invested, he can become a millionaire in a few years and FIRE.
Interview at Google for L5. If you get it, ask for 450k and jump. Interview more. Salesforce though a downgrade is an upgrade in level. Sr Swe at LinkedIn is a joke. Undergrad + 2yr experience will get one to Sr swe.
Which other company?
Updated name.
I think you should take the opportunity. It will open new doors for you
