Stability at AMD

Does AMD have hire and fire policy based on needs? Lots of companies re align their engineers(easier if you are software) if a business unit goes down.

Idk about AMD, but I know Q does :p

Lolol. At Q, they will give you 6 months notice and help you find a job etc etc. Also they will also try to re align inside Q. But Intel doesn’t do any of that. My question is, is AMD more like Intel or Q ? :)

Was that how it worked on massive layoffs of three years ago??

Largely depends on the org I guess. Unless they are in cost cutting mode, which hasn't happened in last 3 years, I don't see why they wouldn't try to accommodate in another team.

AMD doesn't have a hire and fire policy unless it's absolutely required to survive. Last couple of years have been bad cos of lack of revenue. It could totally happen again because the headcount is back to 2013 levels..with slightly higher opex cos of higher salaries for new hires..I would say it's not different than any other company
