Hello blinds, We all know StackOverflow is a wealth of information for developers. I know that StackOverflow contributions are only good to catch attention of the recruiters (or may be not even that?) but are there any companies that you know who asks specifically about SO in their interview / job application process. I used to be a top 10 contributor years ago. Still in top 100 or so... Never had it even mentioned throughout the years. People usually are impressed later when they learn it one way or another, but I haven’t had real FAANG recruiters look at that either. Nothing that translates to $$$. Random recruiter spam may come from crap companies but you don’t really want to work at such places. Don’t do it expecting a direct gain from it. Only do so if it’s fun. If you want to invest on something for direct $$$, leetcode provides the biggest ROI.
Thank you. I have somewhat similar experience so far.
What about GitHub profile with thousands of stars? Is it completely useless too?
I think it would help but at least from my experience I haven’t had any one look into that. But if you do mention it, I would look at it as a big plus.
