If you are already a SWE at Google a Stanford MSCS will add minimal value. An MBA will give you a completely different and stronger private network. Unless you want to build a career in cs research in which case your better off going the PhD route, I'd explore the Stanford MBA route more
It wouldn’t be about career resume value. It’s about laying the foundation for a startup. I actually need the CS foundation more than the business foundation (just in terms of academics) though I’m a SWE at Google.
How old are you, it might matter a lot! Also, can you make 330+ gre? If not, this is a pointless convo
Still within the reasonable time frame though slowly running out of time... and yeah I have the GRE scores etc.
Hey OP, did you end up going to Stanford MS CS or MBA? Also interested in the startup route!
MSCS opens tons of doors but don’t expect to meet your startup cofounders there. Same classes are open to undergrads too. Can’t speak of Stanford MBA but I do know that it’s very very focused on Entrepreneurship. If you have product ideas I don’t think you need either.
Even with product ready, it’s difficult to reach out real Angel or VC. Stanford definitely will give good connections n launching pad.
Did you do your MSCS there? What doors? Why wouldn’t you expect to meet cofounders there?
