Start Invisalign now but moving to NYC in July

I started my Invisalign last week but will start my IBD job in July this year in NYC. Live in Midwest now but the doctor said I only need to visit him several times a year (because of Invisalign). What’s your experience as a first year? Is it possible to take half day travel from NY to Chicago to see a doctor and be back to the office the next day?
