So I signed a Facebook SWE offer (return intern) that starts later in the year, but a startup wants me to intern with them and potentially join them as a FTE. The FTE salary is less than the Facebook salary, but its a good amount of equity and what I think is a good idea (hospital AI stuff), and the company has gone through YC already. Any advice? I'll intern for sure, but IG its hard to know if I should join them full time? Thanks!
Nah, startups are risky and probably not worth it. Facebook will make you rich
At this stage FB will make you well off in an upper middle class way but definitely not rich ;-)
I guess that FB is a more stable and sure way of "getting rich" (but not actually rich), but I suppose there are connections that I could make through this startup (we're all Stanford people) that could lead to maybe more startups and eventually a really successful one? I guess these are things its hard for you guys to give advice on if you don't know the details of the company and what not but maybe I'm looking for personal experiences or something where someone chose a startup over a big company (or the other way around) and what they think in retrospect, or any other general advice. Thanks :)
