Who is in the lead? Presumably Waymo Apple SPG (don’t discount this one) Cruise Zoox Baidu Tesla Uber ATG Toyota Research Nuro In the race to level 4 not level 3.
Waymo >> Tesla Tesla is a dumpster fire. Don't believe shit Elon is spewing on Twitter. Waymo is actually designed for widespread, commercial use (they already have a ride share app with no safety drivers!). Tesla is optimized to convince new-grads to buy Teslas.
This. Anyone in the space knows Tesla’s hardware is sub-par to ever execute fully self driving.
Tesla appears to be going for level 3 despite what Elon claims
I think Cruise is ahead of others. They are the only company with more than 1 million of autonomous drive in a city. Waymo is focusing on suburban areas with much less crazy traffic. And Cruise is going to test without any safety driver in SF by the end of this year. That shows how confident they are with their stack
I can assure you that they will not doing any testing worth noticing without a safety driver this year
People on the outside of these companies sure are clueless on whats really going on
What about Pony.ai?
Tesla gonna be eating the rest for breakfast.
These kinds of posts are meaningless. Until someone makes it, we can just consider them all the same. There's no point in saying X is better than Y when they all seem to have a different focus. You can't just say Waymo >>> everyone else. I'm sure there are things others do that are better than Waymo. Self driving cars is a huge area and you can't just generalize it to one thing. At the end of the day, once one of them makes it to the market, the rest will be able to catch up very quickly.
Waymo is the only company doing fully driverless paid rides daily, with no safety driver up front, in a city. They are miles ahead . Checkout the YouTube vids
In a "City", haha compare waymo's video with Cruise's videos to see what city means
Not sure where the hostility is coming from lol. At least it’s a functioning revenue generating program, once cruise gets rid of the safety driver then we can compare tbh. Waymo is in SF as well, albeit not at the same quantity as cruise but there’s still a presence there.
Cruise and waymo
In the short term, Waymo seems to be leading the way. But their dependency on up to date HD maps will limit them a lot. This is where Tesla will has a lead in the long term.
I always see this argument but this is a false argument. I don’t think the maps would limit them at all
I would love to learn why you think that.

Tesla >> waymo(10b in the hole though), comma ai> motional >~ everyone else
Comma is shit
😂 you would think comma is shit, but out of all the companies in autonomy is the one (with Tesla maybe) with a clear path forward and a good business plan. And their tech is not bad for what they do
