Receiving an offer from KPMG for a product-focused consulting position and am looking for some feedback on whether I should take it given I want to continue building my career as a PM. -Stats- YOE: 2.5 yrs Current Role: Product Manager Current Firm: JPM Current TC: $97k Title: Sr. Associate Offered Role: Consultant (Product-focused team) Offering Firm: KPMG Offered TC: $120-140k Title: Sr. Associate Thoughts on the offer and KPMG in general? What should I expect in regards to WLB? Insight into KPMG consulting culture? I really enjoy being a PM and want to continue to learn and grow in that area (end goal PM at FAANG). Would taking this be a smart career move or would I be better off to wait and pursue PM-specific roles elsewhere? FWIW I enjoyed the chats I had with those who interviewed me. #pm #product #productmanager #consulting #kpmg
Don’t do it! Jump to tech you can 100% get more than 140, plus upside in the next 5-10 years is way more than KPMG
Keep interviewing. Fin tech startup PM might be a good transition. Then make your way to faang later on. A certain stigma comes as a consulting PM, as you never actually own a product.
Agree
People go TO product FROM Consulting (which isn’t always a good idea anyway). But that’s almost a 50% bump, so maybe it’s worth it
