Look at the stock growth of all of big tech over the last 4 years, employees are getting paid much more due to stock appreciation than the company expected, so they can save on this if they re-evaluate your target comp every year and give you the exact number of RSUs to get to that target comp. Especially for a rocket ship IPO like Stripe that's strongly limiting the upside. Still a tier-1 company rn, I just see a world where other companies adapt because they can save a lot of money seeing that everyone still wants to work at Stripe and it hurts the whole industry.
Agreed that OP needs to do what's best for themselves and that very well might be to join Stripe given that they're underpaid at Google and Stripe's potential upside.
Have you spoken to Xooglers at Stripe? I know at least 2 who donβt like it at all and regret joining.
