I love my girlfriend. We've been together for so long and have created so many great memories together. She's doing amazing in her career. I am not. I am making peanuts (<80k) and live in a small non-tech city with her. I turned down Google and Amazon in the past to stay here but my job is turning into a nightmare and I cannot handle it anymore. I'm in an endless loop and I feel I am losing my 20s away working for 🥜 and boring work. She doesn't want to move because she has the absolute dream job here. She wants to get married and settle down but I feel I haven't even started my life yet. I feel unaccomplsihed. There are no high paying jobs here. I could find remote but I'm starting to not like the city either. What do I do?
Start with remote high paying jobs like reddit etc. and then make mutual decision on places you wantt to settle down. If she doesn’t see your persoective and wouldn’t want to meet in the middle at all, then thats a red flag.
Money or a happy life with someone you like . Figure it out . Figure out your priorities . No one can help you out here .
Apply to shopify, you'll get a few more 🥜 and we're remote forever. DM for more info / referral
Leave her and join Google.
Chix are replaceable. But g is not
Find remote job dude ! There are so many remote opportunities. Don’t mix work and love. I can tell you how lonely I feel in live without someone to share.
I hope she gets rid of you if you value companies that see you as a number and will chew you up and spit you out more than the life you've built together. People and relationships are forever, jobs don't care, even the best ones.
LOL. She is happy now but she might easily change when his peanuts cannot provide for the children. OP should never have turned down Google and Amazon for her. If he took Google or Amazon he would be remote by now and could easily have moved back and they could have picked things back up.
Relationships are not forever, that's a toxic mentality.
Why the hell did you sacrifice your career for a girl? You can always find someone else but you can never restart your career or make up for lost time
You know what you want. Find a higher TC job and move. If she wants to follow she will. Otherwise, move on forward. Don’t look back.
That's a really tough one. Do you think you would enjoy the big tech life? The money is appealing but you'll get over it pretty soon, trust me. You could always earn more money by getting a master's degree and making a career switch in the same city. Just an idea.
