Is it normal for companies to pause stock Vesting for employees on bonding leave or FMLA? My wife has faced retribution from her company throughout her pregnancy, so I'm not sure if this is another instance of that or just normal industry trend. She works for a start up.
FB is good, stock vesting schedule doesnât get impacted by parental leave, also accumulate PTO even in leave
Google doesnât pause your stock vesting during paternity leave. Not sure about FMLA
They *should not* pause stock vesting when on maternity leave. This may violate the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. If your wife is facing retribution from her pregnancy, file a joint complaint to the EEOC and California Fair Housing and Employment. Two years ago a jury awarded $185 million in punitive damages to a pregnant woman who was discriminated against at AutoZone.
EA doesnât pause vesting for protected leave (FMLA)
Pretty sure it's illegal to pause vesting during a maternity leave because it's protected. Definitely talk to a lawyer.
At Elastic any unpaid leave pauses vesting, so paid maternity leave would not pause vesting.
Normal industry trend. My wife had hers pushed out 2 months when she took FMLA.
Interesting. Thank you!
Mine did the same when I took parental leave after 2 weeks, so it can affect both sides.
