Over the last 5 years I have invested X amount of money (through Robinhood app only). Investments also include some good profit I made with TSLA (got rid of it before Musk's 420 debacle) and invested in other stocks. Most stocks I have are for mid to long term. I feel there have been quite a few ups and downs in the market, so this was a solid sample of stock performance for my own reference. Since I started investing, the portfolio is worth 2X of the about I have put, in exactly 5 years. That works out to be a CAGR of ~14%. (for simplicity sake, I'm calculating it as X money invested on day 1, 5 years later it is 2x, but CAGR is much higher since I invested in increments, and not considering taxes I have paid on dividends and capital gains). Is this a good growth rate? Would a robo/human adviser give a better return? (IMO it makes no sense to compare profits / losses on individual trades) How's your CAGR or total increase in portfolio value over time?
This is a really good return. What stocks did you invest in and how much money did you put?
Mostly Apple, Tesla, Twitter, Facebook Netflix, Microsoft (box, Groupon, new relic for some time), Best Buy , Home Depot, Alarm.com. I’d have more growth in value had I not sold Microsoft at 40s (bought again at 90s) I have put about 17k something. Now it’s at 35k something. Not a lot, but I had no idea that I’d get such good returns. (Would have invested more here instead of real estate 🙄)
google “how to benchmark your portfolio”
Awesome. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks 👍🏼
