Stop loss orders in this market

Nov 10, 2020 18 Comments

Hello all,
I am a long term investor who plays around with a small amount of money in Robinhood (about 40k). I have earned about 40 percent all time profit I. Past 3 years.
Does it make sense to keep stop loss orders or limit profits? Stocks include mostly tech heavy portfolio like msft, twlo, fsly etc

  • Long term investing and stop loss makes no sense. The only purpose of stop loss is if you're actively trading and if you have to ask if it's a good idea it's probably advisable not to do that until you've done more research.

I like the minor flex of "small amount of money" then going off to say the amount.

    • Ha ha. I didn't mean to show off or anything. I knew if I didn't write the money, someone was probably going to comment what's the amount, so I saved that - only to find your commentπŸ˜‚

Totally get you. Wasn't being snide. I'm sure someone would have asked too lol. Including "small" aaand a # just made it seem like it was either a flex or an afterthought (as it was in this case). Sorry if reading too much into it, I write in free time 🀣🀣

If you think the trend is lower, why not go short?

What if stocks fall, trigger your stop loss and then climb like crazy
