Stories from “high level” engineers?

Hi,
Did anybody see a good story about people who got into Distinguished level (Google, FB, MS, Amazon).
I know Corey Sanders story (who recently got CVP at MS) and it is good and helpful information. At some moment he mostly switched to management track but he is a really hardworking person (i think he sent a design doc during his wedding day :-) ). I tried to search here or in Quora but found almost nothing. Found one good article from Adrian Cockcroft and that’s all.

Book “coders at work” was not inspiring/interesting.

So any references to articles would be helpful to look.
