Most consumers are only interested in 2-3 shows from one provider. Example: ppl subscribing to Netflix for a month to binge watch stranger things and those subscribing to Hotstar to watch World cup live stream. These are temporary subscriptions lasting for a month or two.
Consumers need a new subscription model, where they can subscribe to few shows from any streaming service they are interested in, via one app, like tv. Thoughts?

I started this thread to discuss why we don't have this service already and how can someone achieve this.

Regardless of where I work, I don't see value in subscribing to one service just for few shows and I don't want the hassle of un/subscribing every alternate month.

Like a broken clock, Atinlay is right this time. It won't happen without a huge change in the streaming market. Netflix doesn't spend fuckloads on Stranger Things just to get some piecemeal payment. They want their full subscription price. Same for all the other big shoes everyone wants. You'd have to massively increase viewership compared to the subscriptions you would've gained to come anywhere close to making it worth it.

I bet Netflix started with that very same idea.. But content rights screwed them. They tried to revolutionize cable TV and ended up becoming an expensive on demand channel.

Content are fungible. Very few are must see. Or you can binge them for a month and cancel. Netflix is winning this race because of scale. At some point, studios will get a reckoning that they don't have the scale to compete.
