I’m from mainland China. In the past week, I’ve been through some unnecessary conversations. Colleague A: Are your parents ok in China? Just stop eating bat soups. B: Did you watch the video of the Chinese seafood market, it’s so gross, how could any human eat those? C: Mimic eating bat, showed footage to others, and tried to send it to me. Wouldn’t stop talking about it after I explain how hurtful this is and the vast majority Chinese despise eating wild animals. D: Get a mask like those Hong Kong protestors. Protect yourself from tear gas bla bla. I’m probably too emotional. I stressed out already. I’m worried about my family in China, people died or were mistreated. I would never comment on another country’s politics, protests, or joke about a disaster.
wont you do the same if you are in their shoes?
I wouldn’t. Could you explain a little bit, this is office, not internet.
Damn. Your coworkers are really inconsiderate..
Next time they come just start coughing really loudly, preferably aimed at their faces.
Co-worker A could be genuinely sympathetic. But the other examples are so weird. People can be very inconsiderate. Generalizing and rationalizing based on that is rather stupid. Politely steer the conversation to other topics.
Stfu. Don’t tell me I should be ashamed of where I am from.
And if you really want to clear the room start talking about how great your visit to China was 😉
😂🤣
