I recently accepted an offer for a "Full Stack Engineer" at Stripe. The job postings usually have Software Engineer, Backend/API Engineer or Full Stack Engineer as the title. However, almost all of engineers at Stripe have the title as Software Engineer on LinkedIn. Do people prefer to keep "Software Engineer" as the title on LinkedIn or these new titles were introduced recently? Any differences between these titles as far as career growth is concerned internally? Current TC: 190K 4 YOE New TC: 319K #engineering #software
Internally it’s just Software Engineer. Unless you get to L4 then it’s Staff Software Engineer. Welcome to Stripe!
Congrats on the offer. How was the interview? I’m starting the interview process with stripe soon
Not OP but my process was very quick. Every followup was within a day both for phone and onsite, even offer letter was provided a day after feedback. They are crazy good with recruiting process imo
I actually liked their interview process a lot. The programming questions although not very easy are much better than the general LC questions, where it's more dependent on your prep. Make sure to choose the programming language and IDE you are most comfortable with for integration and bug squash and also try out some basic debugging tools in your IDE for the bug squash round.
You can put whatever you want as your title on LinkedIn. Most people in Engineering, including Managers, and Managers of Managers, have Software Engineer as their internal titles.
OP, I have on-site in 10 days. Can I DM?
Sure
I accepted a full stack engineer role too. I have seen people usually still out Software Engineer (or Senior Software engineer if L3, but then there are some L3s who keep it flat with just software engineer). Up to you what you’d feel most comfortable with
