Currently expecting an offer letter from Stripe for a L3 position in Finance & Strategy based in NY. Moving over from a non-tech firm with 7.5 YOE so not familiar with the tech levels and comps expectations. Two questions:
1. Should I fight for a L4 role? Recruiter mentioned L4 will lead a team and this role is an IC without people to manage at the moment. Some blind posts show L4 could even have lower pay than L3 but wonder if L4 is possible and better for future exits.
2. Recruiter mentioned $300k TC is possible (the initial target I gave) but I somehow felt that's low based on the initial range quoted from recruiter (base is up to low 200k, bonus 15%, annual grant is 65k) as well as a few more blind posts I saw afterwards. What would be reasonable TC to expect? Should I negotiate hard on the cash component vs. grant (if possible)?
