Interested in harder technical products + infra. Previously interned at FB. There are obviously lots of opportunities in this area @ FB. However, Stripe is growing quickly and there is more opportunity to build projects from the ground up. Many of the infra + and dev infra tools @ FB (GK, Sandcastle, etc.) are being built at Stripe, and growth might be better working on such projects. How does working on an established infra product vs building it from an earlier stage compare? How does culture compare between the two? I prefer high pressure, fast pace environments like FB. I have heard Stripe is more relaxed. Where would I grow more quickly? Don’t care about TC that much, more focused on aggressive technical growth and maturity to take on larger products. Even if Stripe valuation stays the same, both offers are very comparable.
The only reason why one would consider Stripe over FB would be comp, but seems both are comparable. I personally would go with Stripe. Do you know what team you will be a part of @Stripe?
Both companies have a bootcamp process, with a fairly large choice in team. Would join an infra team @ both companies.
Isn’t that backwards? The only reason I would even consider joining Facebook is compensation.
With ur criterias you should join stripe
fb is evil. choose stripe or google :)
Google is evil. Choose stripe or fb
FB is fxxking going down. A sinking shit ship.
Stripe may be relaxed insofar as people tend to house their iron fists in a velvet glove, whereas conversations between people at Facebook may be a bit more brash. I‘d say that both companies are big enough that the bell curves of their engineering skill distributions have significant overlap... I’d personally pick Stripe for cultural reasons.
Where did you end up going? In a similar spot.
TC?
Not too concerned about this aspect.
You might not be concerned but that dude wants to know!
