I've been reading a lot of negative things about Stripe culture and WLB on Blind. However, Stripe TC is higher in a lower cost area. What would be the right move for a new grad? Also, I'm on a visa if that's relevant. Please don't mention the 1 AVG equity grant when comparing. I think it's not that bad given how it increases with promo and since promos are much faster at Stripe. Stripe TC: 244k average over 4 years in Seattle Google TC: 210k average over 4 years in NYC #google #stripe
Stripe 1000% dawg
Google is very good at lowball and down level people
Yeah, I negotiated pretty hard for the current offer.
New grads getting $240k?! I am such a boomer.
I think 244k in Seattle will result in a bigger take-home and purchasing power than 210k in NYC.
I'd say Google in this case. Cash like equities are important for new grads. Unless Stripe is going public soon
Rumor has it that they are going public in 2022 right? If that is true, this is the perfect time to join!!
Stripe is basically a public company at this point.
living in nyc > seattle when youre young imo
Stripe if Seattle isn’t a concern. What team in Stripe? Is it something that excites you ? Stripe has a limited problem space so it’s important to select the right team. Payments industry is growing at a very rapid pace still. You won’t go wrong with TC/Career growth at Stripe.
Thanks for the input. Both Google and Stripe teams will be decided closer to the time I join next year. I think Google has more interesting teams in general but I can also see some teams at Stripe being interesting.
Is this for L4 new grads?
I'll say Google. Much rather be a new grad in NYC but that's just me
