All three are Staff level, similar TC, similar tech area (infra, not ML related), located at Seattle, which one you would choose?

I'm particular looking for growth opportunities, in terms of both project/scope and stock potential.

Stripe: 244k + 20% + 340k (per-year) = ~633k
Robinhood: 250k + 10% + 1.2M (4 years) + 110k (two-year sign-on) = ~605K
Coinbase: 207k + 10% + 400k (per-year) = ~627k

Haven't negotiate sign-on from Stripe or Coinbase yet, which may add up ~10k per year. I'm aware of the notorious RSU vesting policy of Coinbase and Stripe. Stripe will probably IPO next year. Robinhood has stacked refresh after one year of employment.

Current TC: 400K

Your decision should be based on everything but comp. The comp, risk, etc. are so similar that the differences will be meaningless to you.

You should base your decision on the work youโ€™ll be doing, the people youโ€™ll work with, and the culture of the place.

WLB is a little better than Facebook overall. I had a great WLB at FB and have a great WLB here but I know lots of people who donโ€™t at both places. Iโ€™m just really good at saying no and setting expectations.

Eng culture is a but worse than FB was at a similar stage. Our tools are worse, leaders slightly worse at empowering, engineers slightly worse, etc. On the other hand, we donโ€™t have people chasing meaningless metrics to the same extent, collaboration between teams is a lot better and the work is more meaningful.

  • You'll have much more cash in hand with Robinhood. 275(=250*1.1) +110/2. Cash is king. Stripe is already at $90B+ valuation before IPO. Not sure how much upside is on the horizon. And with 1 year RSU that doesn't matter that much. Although Stripe bussiness is much more stable than other two.
If purely position, I'd choose stripe. Overall, I'd choose Robinhood.

@coinbae Robinhood is getting into crypto too though. Obviously CB is far more mature but there seem to be similar crypto upsides to both.

@amazon you are right, but itโ€™s not really the same. Crypto is a side business for RH but is everything for CB, so CB is putting way more resources in crypto innovation and exploration. From learning perspective, i would vote for CB over RH.

However RH may have a more stable stock price because of its diversified revenue source.
