Hi, people of Blind. I am losing hope. I am not that good with leetcody questions so have been targeting companies appropriately. I got 3 offers in the past 6 months and just received another one. Some straight up denied I140 process until 5th year of H1B and and other said it will be performance based and nothing in written. They may in start 1-2 years.I think if I work for some ICC bodyshop I may get I140 approved faster but it seems stupid to do so. LC medium kicks my butt most times so I realized my fundamental knowledge is not that great. I am taking coursera DSA courses to strengthen my problem solving skills and then jump on leetcode so I can apply to FAANG like companies if not FAANG. Do you guys have any advice on how to structure my prep? What companies to target etc TC : <100K
1. Pick 1 language you’re good with (Java or Python ideally) and don’t jump around during your study plan. 2. Go through all basic data structures in that language and implement the logic for them by hand on paper. Draw diagrams in a notebook and you will continue writing/practicing in this notebook. Will also serve as review documentation weekly. Retention is important for interviews. 3. Look up “leetcode patterns” on medium by a guy called csgator and that should help you solve a lot of problems. 4. Buy LeetCode premium and practice questions by company name when you’re prepping for specific interviews. Once you cross the 50-80-100-200 question barrier, you’ll start noticing patterns and the speed of solving will come. For reference, I had to do 300 LeetCode questions to pass my AWS interview 9 months ago. Failed Google, Dropbox, and Microsoft. Got a couple other onsites but chose AWS at the end.
Thanks. I guess I am on part 2.
Keep at it OP, the job search is a daunting process but perseverance pays off!
I went through same experience. Most company don’t start GC process immediately especially if you are entry level. Unless you are exceptional and they are desperate to keep you they won’t. So if you still have more than 3 years time in H1B you may need to wait.
I understand. I thought I could negotiate these things upfront. Recessions and changing immigration policies scare me.
Generally most Bay Area companies are good with visa stuff.Whats your location?Target companies in the Bay Area,NYC and Seattle
I work for big financial institution. Not in tech hub. Problem I have is I cant even get a single callback. I have like 1.5 years of experience.
Try Docusign in Chicago. They are recently hiring like crazy and they also start green card quickly as far as I know.
