Students faking opposition to hr1044

Looks like they are creating fake IDs pretending to be someone else. https://www.dropbox.com/s/afbof4toai6ltgo/iranian_group_screenshots_showing_Misinformation_Campaign_Coordination.pdf They want to create controversy (in their own words - check screenshots for details). If you are in the backlog, don't forget to mail your Alma mater and explain them about this misinformation campaign. https://m.facebook.com/ImmigrationVoice/posts/3765053510227512 The key here is - there is actually a ramp down in hr1044 with the senate version. It provides 10 year transition period (heavily front loaded). This transition is TWICE the numbers of what existed in the original house version that passed. It ensures that folks who are in the line and anyone who might be in the line soon will not be affected. Even after this, when folks like these oppose, it's only because they can't understand what equality is and are fighting for folks who will join the line a long time from now, who likely haven't even set foot in the country yet. To all the reasonable RoW folks and my Iranians brothers and sisters with whom we have stood shoulder to shoulder opposing the travel ban - if there is a time for you to stand up and support a fellow immigrants, it's now. Please bring some sanity to these students who are now fighting for those who don't even have thought about applying to immigrate. In the process, they are harming their allies.

Op had originally asked me to not talk politics - below was my response. He/she then asked sorry - so I am totally fine with it.@google: Appreciate you changing your mind. Thank you 👍🏽 --------------------- Is there a curfew in blind? If not why should I not talk? It affects my family - I have been on the line for a decade. People are harming the only chance in the last 15 years to fix the issue. I have every reason to talk about it. If you don't like the thread, feel free to move on. 🖖🏽

I am sorry.

The issue with Iranians is that they get single entry visa so if they go back to Iran they can’t come back, and chances of extension are very low. That’s why they want to get GC as soon as possible. 10 years is ample time not sure if US would still be desirable destination in 10 years.

Google debzzi OP Dec 8, 2020

Yeah here is the question. It doesn't affect anyone who is in US. With the huge ramp down this was ensured. They still are going around spreading misinformation because they are fighting for those 7-10 years from now. And when biden comes to office ban will go away. They have nothing to worry. What I have noticed is actually the opposite. They actually don't care about the ban. They just want to make sure not just them but folks 10 years from now from Iran have pathway. There are many Iranians who actually support the bill : https://twitter.com/roozbehp/status/1290407625281032192 @msft below: this person ^ is real - unlike the Americans these students pretend to be and create fake opposition.

What do you think would be a more desirable destination in 10 years?

S386 isn't the right fix to this problem. It not even a fix. It makes things temporarily better for Indians currently in the queue, but doesn't get rid of the queue, and doesn't stop the consulting abuse. In fact, because it creates loopholes for the consulting companies (opt->GC) we would see a huge spike in abusive applications. That's because it's not a fix. A real fix would stop the abuse.

Google debzzi OP Dec 8, 2020

50/50 is exactly that. It stops consulting companies business model from working. The people who keep calling abuse really don't care about fixing it, because if they do, they know about 50/50. They also know why this is really the biggest fix in last 15 years on this issue. They also know the current loopholes, where someone on student visa will simply convert to GC without completing their degrees, instead doing security guard ans pizza delivery. All the while, more qualified folks wait on the line for decade(s). And yes, this opt-> GC for consultancy won't happen because consulting companies are gone with 50/50 rule. Opt-> GC is what students from that country above do today. By opposing, you are ensuring the loophole stays. If that's not a loophole what is?

QuEST Global dLsD11 Dec 8, 2020

@dezzi How can one get GC from OPT? don't you need a tech job and PERM to file GC? Are there some fake companies applying GC for students? I seriously want to know if UCIS is as stupid as you claim. If yes then i need to apply to GC asap :)

Of course it’s the Iranians, putting to use all the dirty tactics taught to them by their Russian masters. What a bunch of hypocrites. The same Iranians dance when their leaders say that they will teach the US a lesson, same Iranians were crying for vengeance against the US when Soleimani was rightly killed, but when it comes to US green cards to stay in the US they suddenly want to fight to keep their advantage. How ironic. As an Indian, I have certain reservations against S386 that we will get back to 35 years of waiting times for everyone in less than a decade, so it’s not a good short term fix, forget it being a long term fix. But this, I totally despise the dirty tactics the Iranians have used to protest the bill. I am not surprised, I have seen them do this everywhere where Iran is a contender. Pretty crappy considering India bent over backwards to buy Iranian oil, to get around the US sanctions. I understand their right to protest, at least do it in a civilized way. Well, for all the times Iranians use these dirty tactics, I just hope Israel shows them their place.

QuEST Global dLsD11 Dec 8, 2020

people don't represent their countries as you guys say all the time so how come Iranians or other muslim countries should face these questions, which they can't answer?

Esri klokov_v3 Dec 8, 2020

Because the population strongly supports people like Soleimani and Ahmadinejad, who issue antagonistic statements towards the US. Can’t hate a country and then move there to reap that sweet, sweet $$ now, makes one seem like a hypocrite.

Microsoft HqVR15 Dec 8, 2020

s386 isn't the right fix. should not pass. it's just burdening everyone instead of just heavily populated countries. the cap should increase to meet demand.

Obviously when a racist law is removed, people oppressed by it are the main beneficiaries.

Google debzzi OP Dec 8, 2020

Yeah unfortunately they paid money for lobby and they are now having buyer's remorse. So now the ramp up is 10 years and more than twice that of what was in house bill. They still are opposed because they somehow think they are superior to everyone and are fighting for those who aren't even in the country yet.

Salesforce rev19 Dec 8, 2020

It benefits Indian immigrants who proved residency over and over and over, unlike most ROW with zero residency. Let's stop this ROW blabbering of benefitting only Indians. Why dont you wait for 10 years and then get some "benefit"!

New
SwimingApe Dec 8, 2020

I don’t think it’s only Iranians. It’s probably anyone that’s not Indian 😂.

Google ilsR32 Dec 8, 2020

Dude you’re talking about ROW meaning REST OF THE WORLD. why you guys are so arrogant to agree on this fact that this bill puts REST OF THE WORLD in +40 years while even now you get +80% of greencards!

Google debzzi OP Dec 8, 2020

This bill puts everyone equal. [Citation needed] for 80% of green cards because it's a lie.

Google JgDG07 Dec 9, 2020

Obviously when a racist law is removed, people oppressed by it are the main beneficiaries. But the bill has enough clauses to: 1) To help American workers by taking care of visa abuses 2) To help people from non India and non China (EB5 and EB1 Chinese) with EAD/AP clause.

Uber Cnfuzd Dec 8, 2020

Can someone explain how long the wait for Indians is today and how long it will become if this bill passes? I was told it’s ~30 years for Indians/Chinese now and ~2 years for everyone else. If the bill passes, it becomes ~25 years for everybody! Is that the case? Or not accurate. If it is the case, seems like a bad idea and the push should be for more capacity instead of equal distribution of misery!

Google ilsR32 Dec 8, 2020

Yeah, it dramatically puts everyone else in long long waiting lines. Look at the paper here https://fas.org/sgp/crs/homesec/R46291.pdf

Google debzzi OP Dec 8, 2020

Uber it's 150 years today for India and 10+ for china. https://www.cato.org/blog/150-year-wait-indian-immigrants-advanced-degrees If the bill passes, post backlog cleanup it's 4-6 years for all. All this 30 years is a bs made out by a ethno centric group.

Most of these are AILA immigration lawyers. They will fight tooth and nail for this to not be solved so that they can ride off the backs of blood.
