Hello Folks, My first post in Blind. Have been following topics for last 2 days. Amazing stuff guys. Kudos to all the contributors. Ask:- I would like to learn a programming language. Need suggestions either to start with Java (I have basic knowledge) or Python (nada knowldge). Which would add more value to my profile. My Profile:- YOE - 8.5+ M.S in CS Datawarehouse background all 8+ years. Tools, MSBI Suite (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) SQL Expert (if being overconfidernt) Data Modelling Tableau ideally, im much interested in mastering a programming language as a way of updating my profile and move out of my comfort zone in terms of my next career switch. im more inclined towards Python as it can be mixed with data analytics. any help is appreciated. if you have used or use a decent source for learning it would be helpfull to know also. thanks. happy holidays.
I’m into data warehousing/ analyst hybrid role. Noted. Thank you for your inputs. I’m also inclined towards python.
Python is a great language to start with. I use it for interviewing as well because it's more concise than other languages. BTW, how did you get a MS in CS and not know a programming language?

Do you use any open source tools in your current role? One aspect that improves your portfolio could be a contribution to open source. Link to a GitHub profile has much more weight than a line in your resume stating that you know a particular language. Choose the language of the tool that you'd contribute to.
No I don’t use any currently. Can you please elaborate on contribute to open source? Sorry for bing Naive.
