I haven’t done shit today!
Hello, I've modified my role at my current workplace into essentially a BI role in the Supply Chain Function. However, when I look at job ads for Supply Chain Analysts they don't ask for skills such as data warehousing, data visualizations, etc. Is there a market for BI skills in the Supply Chain space? Or do I need to transfer over to Marketing or another business discipline?
For further research: what platforms or tools are most valuable in the BI space? I write python and visualize with Bokeh but I've heard of Tableau, business warehouse, power Bi being valuable too.
Cloud is all the rage now... So be familiar with aws and azure offerings for data lake, nosql, etc. Tableau, qlik, power BI are the viz tools to go with. Don't waste your time with crappy BW or bobj
Thanks for the tips here. Just for clarification, what does bobj reference?
SAP Business Objects
Don't look for such a specific title - I have never heard of SCM BI. Look for something like business intelligence engineer, business analyst, operations research, supply chain manager, or data engineer. Heck, even data scientist is not defined in most companies, and you can probably sneak in with your skill set.
Thanks so much!
If you have those skills in bw, viz, etc just go for a BI role as primary. Having SC background may help you get into a specific role or industry, but BI skills are more transferable and likely give you a broader net to cast. Good luck!
Thanks!
