Switching from Production Engg to Product Management
Hi Blind Community,
I am a Production Engineer at Meta and am looking to switch to Product Management. I had applied to just the Google APM last year and filtered out in the first screening interview and have been preparing more seriously since.
My question is would be wise to switch to an APM role outside of Meta (say Coinbase/ Twitter/ Uber) or a Series-C startup as an APM or apply to be a RPM within Meta in July considering I love the company, benefits and rate of promo possible here, and once I leave it’ll be hard to get back in to Meta anytime soon since I’ll be leaving just after a year. But thing with applying to be an RPM is I need to let my current manager know that I’m looking to switch and if I don’t clear RPM interview, it’ll be awkward I think.
So any advise on what to do about this would be great.

Another reason is I want to go into Management, but not people management. Pretty much taking products from 0 to 1
