Switching from one Big 4 to another advice

Been at my current firm for over a year, but a peer approched me with an opportunity at another Big 4. Pay potentially better and the position seems like way more intriguing work. Am I too inexperienced to be considering switching? What next steps should I be taking if I decide to pursue this? Seeking advice and insight.

I’d look at the size of the Big4 in your market - May be advantageous to move to bigger/better one. Grass is always greener though and will take a while to bed in

I know a friend who switched from EY to Deloitte and got $115k. I wouldn’t feel bad about the time, if you have good experience and are ready to be let go at any point bc they don’t “like” you, I would say go. I’m interested to see these responses.

Definitely apply and if you get an offer you can decide later :)

Over a year is enough time to bounce and KPMG slashed our PTO accrual by 20% anyway. If you can get an offer, and it's better pay for work that interests you more, then I would definitely take it.

A year is pretty normal in the DMV area to hop between consulting firms. I've seen it happen regularly and not to mention that people will come back to the firm they left ("boomerangs" as they say) because it's easier to up your TC and get promoted.

What do you say in interviews when you come back to same company

I've seen it happen quite regularly, from analysts to directors. If the new opportunity is more intriguing for you and pay is even better, I'd say why not.
