Whether it’s because of an acquisition or because of business as usual, it’s happening soon. Working at Symantec means hearing credible lay-off rumors twice per year. Fun stuff. 🙄
USA-based teams are getting new members to train; effectively our-sourcing work to India; where labor is cheaper. If you’re in the USA and find yourself training someone from India in the next week... can ya guess why?

Lots of companies intentionally leak rumors about layoff ahead. That way, people are not surprised when they get laid off. It is usually one or two weeks before the actual layoff day. It doesn’t mean this is the case for Symantec of course. Just one possibility
We have already had weeks of rummers heading up to this week. I even overheard managers indirectly warning their team about this past Tuesday. Something is up and we just waiting to find out.
Why make the news on two separate days when you can announce everything on one day. My guess is that we are probably going to wait till earnings to announce it.
Layoff for health
Not yet! Supposed to be yesterday. However, people are saying that it is on hold! Something is going on with the board level. People are thinking that they re trying to sale the company...no one has any information except the layoffs got moved to later!
