Facebook Never Offer E6?

Apr 20, 2019 32 Comments

Recently received one fb offer. Per recruiter the feedback signal is very strong positive. But it is still e5 instead of e6(Yoe 7-8). Asked around was told that fb never offer e6 for external hire. Is that true?

Not true. I was offered E6. Think twice if you want E6, tho. The responsibilities and expectations can be brutal.

I don't doubt many people accept lower offers to move to Google or Facebook looking forward for future stock refreshes and better benefits.

But, I would never switch from Google to Facebook (and probably from Facebook to Google) without a pay bump. It makes no sense.

In general you are right and that is human nature. People might be more enthusiastic about better work or WLB. This doesn’t just apply to folks moving to F/G but any company in general. Also, I don’t think switching between G/F would get you a significant bump anyways unless it’s a level increase assuming you make close to your top of market. You would need to go a competitor that is a bit talent starved (not the top 2)

They definitely do, got e6 offer 2018 March. Accepted and still at FB. When interviewing, they even considered me for e7 but they settled for e6. But I had 20+ yoe and ios swe track. 6 years ios experience

  • Hitting the ground running as E6 is very hard so you really take a risk. Also at 7-8 yoe I would say generally E5 is correct

  • 7 YOE is typically 5. 6 is possible, but as WeWork mentioned, expectations are very high.
