**Preface: Moving is NOT a option currently** Location: Toronto HQ Amazon offer would require a Commute. HQ is roughly 1.2hrs (door to door). Round trip would be 3.4hrs. I'm young enough to do this, but this commute is killer. Current Company I work at Fully Remote -- 3 YOE, hybrid Solution Architect and Developer. I get to plan, architect and automate our AWS services focusing around Data and analytics spaces using the newest tools. Its a very large stable enterprise bank (think Blue Chip Stock). Working from Home, remote. Amazon Offer -- Solution Architect role, L4. -- 81k base (1st yr bonus - 18.7k, 2nd Year -18.3k) -- 80k RSU (5, 15, then 20 every 6 months) Year 1 Projected comps: Current Company ---- $82.2k TC, Remote Work Amazon ---- $104k TC Year 2 Projected comps: Current Company ---- $87.2k TC, Remote Work Amazon ---- $112.21k TC Any other questions, feel free to ask them. Moving is not a option as my fiancee works local to current area. Thoughts? Work day would revolve around a 7-7pm, door to door. QUESTIONS: 1) Is this trade-off worth it? If I have the ability to grind through this? 2) Is the perceived experience of being a SA interacting with multiple companies/clients a similar perception to other industries? Example -- Deloitte CPAs -- 2-3yrs of experience equates to 5-6yrs of regular industry expertise #solutionarchitect #aws #amazon
How are you getting 229k in year 2 projected TC? That math is WAY off.
Yr1 + Yr2 Base + (Bonuses, 401k match, Vacation, Personal, Sick days, and RSU contribution) - Travel costs
What a weird way of doing this? TC isnt compounded by previous years lol. Also the 5/15/40/40 is % of the total number of shares granted ($80k is 40 @ 2k/share over 4 years). Y1 is 2 shares, Y2 is 6 shares.
I wouldn't take the offer, you could be making more than Amazon's offer at a lot of places with your YoE.
Thanks, I'll keep up the job hunt!
All I saw was a 3+ hour round trip commute everyday. It’s not worth that. Especially if you’re fully remote now Keep interviewing

Maybe I am not understanding the question correctly, but company A pays less AND you have 3+hours commute? Isnt AWS a clear winner here?
Current Company is fully remote. Should've specified that more clearly
Wait, then why mention the travel/distance? Is AWS local or you need to travel for that as well?
