I had originally applied to AWS Technical Account Manager L5 and gave him a TC range of $180K - $220K. He upgraded me to L6 for the interview process. Is it standard that it will be an upgraded pay band because of this? If I get an offer, I don’t want to get lowballed. I let the recruiter know I would have different TC requirements for a higher position. Let me know! TC: $155K
There's minimum comps for each role.
That’s what I figured so I assume it won’t be a huge issue…don’t see any reason why I can’t negotiate it’s an entirely different level
They might reassess your level once you are in the interview process.
100% can happen. You can’t go a level up without re-interviewing since the loop will have L6 people on it. However, if they are not inclined at L6, there will be a discussion about L5.
Ok that’s good to know! But yeah I know it will definitely be L6 interview with the possibility to downgrade to L5
Sounds like they moved it to L6, since L5 for this role was probably out of band.
Don’t worry. You are good. Prepare well for the interview and perform well you can negotiate a higher pay after that. Good that you are interviewed for L6 instead of L5 so you still have time to negotiate to get a good deal.
Great, that’s what I’m thinking. Sounds like I rocked the phone interview from the recruiters feedback. I’m hoping if I knock this out of the park I can get $250K. An L6 is just talked to got $285K
Ask for 215% of your current TC (if Amazon is inclined).
First of all made a mistake by giving a range upfront, now interview first and get an offer before you start your negotiations. Try getting other offers as well and let the recruiters compete.
Agree with you, but I talked to some people at Amazon and they just have me the pay bands for that level lol….but L6 is different I don’t think you can even go below $220K for L6
Are you sure for this role? Every job family has different pay bands.
