What can I put down as expected total compensation when interviewing for Engineering Manager at Amazon? Position in Palo Alto/San Fran. TIA.
Nothing.. don’t show your card first
That is stupid advice. If you don’t say anything they will offer 250k and negotiations start from there. If you say a high number the negotiations start from there.
Hehe.. you’re naive
600-800k
Not for E6
What level is E6?
Which team?
Say you prefer to discuss compensation further along in the process.
Thanks all! Appreciate the suggestions. Do I add my expected sign on bonus to the equation though that is obviously only for the first year or two?
Sign on bonus is part of the Amazon offer, and it’s sizable because in first two years only 5/15% stocks vest. Don’t waste your breath asking for sign on, just focus on TC. Don’t listen to others, don’t mention anything less than 600k. When you get that, please add the details to calibrate the community.
Dont give a number first. As I stated above.
Give a high number, negotiate at your own terms, don’t let them start low. dUKM75, what’s your rationale?
You dont know your value to them. Discuss it later on. Pass the interview first. I just got a top of band offer by not giving a number and preferring to discuss it later in the process
Add 10% for manager. Thats IC midpoint. High end of L6 manager is 420-430 so midpoint 365 to 375
Hi all, have an update. I got the job! And the offer is around 380k TC. I’m happy with it though I know this is basically average for amazon. I am going to try to negotiate and ask for more stocks
put what you expect TC
