TC bubble about to burst

Feb 2 7 Comments

You guys and gals think we’ll see a TC bubble burst with referencing to people who make most of their TC with RSUs? Meta’s stock just dropped 75 pts after hours and that’s gotta hurt TC wise.

TC - $150k and no RSUs 🥲

This is unlikely; companies need their talent and competition is fierce and expensive. No matter how much engineers cost, the cost outweighs the risk of major attrition.

RSUs cost nothing to create and don’t interrupt any reporting metric other than outstanding shares and most investors have shown they are fine with 1-2% dilution YoY…dunno why they are okay with it but I won’t complain.

The mindset of RSUs costing nothing is more a sign of a bubble than a defense. That mindset was prevalent during the dot com crash as well.

They believe companies issue RSUs out of thin air. Stock based compensation of Snap, for instance, is at 36% of its revenue! They are paying it by diluting the ownership and can’t afford buyback cuz they are not profitable. To keep the employees happy they have to worsen this issue and further hurt the prospects of their stock.

TC should not include stock appreciation, so it should not make a difference.

The opposite. People who join now are going to have huge TC in a year

  • I don’t think so. It’s nature of stocks to go up and down especially during earnings season. You can refer to all those comments about Netflix couple of days back. It’s better than where it was.
